Welcome to the land of high tides

Owing to a subtle blending of land and water, our coastline presents remarkable features. Havens well-protected from stormy swells and gales which were ideal for coastal sailing and the old saltworks, and miles on end of sandy beaches which, for centuries, have been the fishing grounds of the locals and where today families still go gathering mussels and cockles. But behind the coastal front you may also find a different aspect of Normandy, its famous « bocage », a countryside of meadows crisscrossed by hedgerows. In the Sienne valley, for example, you will come across numerous manors and old monuments which bear witness to the history of the Province.

Our wish is to share with you this extraordinarily diversified heritage whichever time of year you visit our region. Away from the beaten track of mass tourism, the district of Montmartin-sur-mer offers you all categories of accommodation : camping sites, hotels, « gîtes » (holiday homes to rent) and bed and breakfast places, as well as a wide range of sporting and cultural activities.

We thus invite you to discover our region for yourselves. We hope your stay will incite you to discover the charms of our seashore and of our bocage countryside, in the footsteps of those famous men and women, who, over the centuries, have either shaped, protected or enhanced the beauty of our heritage.
